JAILHOUSE MENTALITY

I had the privilege to illustrate an AJC op-ed article by former mayor Andrew Young. The topic dealt with African-American males caught in the cycle of incarceration. I approached the illustration with a strong vertical and simple palette to bring across a stoic message. My concept of a caged mind, shackled hands and caged feet brought home the message of ‘broken self-image’, ‘being held back’ and ‘no forward progress’. It was highly approved by author and public.

INFORMATION OVERLOAD

We are inundated with information daily from technologies vying for our attention. This was my simple creation of 1’s and 0’s raining in a downpour on a consumer. This was a cover illustration for AJC’s Technology section.

MIDTOWN: VIEW OF THE WORLD

A whimsical look of Midtown for AJC on how it is viewed from its centralized location in Atlanta and its influence on the rest of the metro area. Concept is a take on artist Saul Steinberg’s New Yorker magazine 1976 cover illustration ‘View of the World from 9th Ave’.

THE NutCRACKER

Always a holiday favorite, the Nutcracker AJC cover illustration was created to capture the eye of readers both young and old through non-traditional execution. It was shared with news organizations across the nation.
